Our lessons are based on the Skate UK recognised Learn to Skate programme starting from level 1 progressing up to level 7.
Lessons follow the Skate UK recognised Learn to Skate programme, starting from SkateTots (age 4) and progressing from level 1 to level 7 (ages 5+) with additional adult classes available for ages 16+.
Class Details:
- When: Every Tuesday and Thursday between 4pm & 8pm
- Who: Classes are open to all—complete beginners, those with some experience, adults, children, and young people aged 4 and up.
Choose Skate Membership Includes:
- Cost: £50 per month via direct debit (50 weeks a year)
- Lessons: One 30-minute class per week
- Extras: Ice skate hire and free recreational ice skating Monday to Friday
Our skilled instructors are dedicated to creating a fun and supportive learning environment. You or your child will quickly learn the fundamentals of skating, from standing confidently on the ice to gliding and spinning like a pro!

SKATE TOTS 4+
DISCOVERING LESSONS (LEVEL 1-3) 6+
Levels 1-3 are the “Discovering” Skill Phase which encompasses the skating skills required to progress onto the “Developing” Phase levels 4-6. By the end of this Discovering Phase skaters will have a knowledge of forward and backward skating, forward and backward stopping and a clear understanding of edges and how to use them.
Level 1 is advised for children age 6+
Adult classes will also follow the Skate UK levels 1-6.
LEVEL ONE
- Moving forward
- Sit & stand independantly
- Moving forward (10 steps) & two foot glide (with dip)
- Stationary snowplough stop
- Moving forward snowplough stop
- Moving forward (10 steps) & two foot glide into forward lemon
- Introduction to moving backwards
LEVEL TWO
- Moving forward 10 steps - curve left & right
- Moving snowplough stop or t-stop
- Moving backwards (toes turned in)
- Two-foot turns on the spot (twisting action)
- Forward & backward lemons (minimum 5)
- Introduction to forward one foot glide in a straight line
LEVEL THREE
- Forward stroking (with correct push, glide and free leg position)
- Backward snowplough stop
- Forward to backward two-foot turns
- Forward outside & inside edges one foot glides
- Forward two-foot slalmon
- Introduction to backward stroking
DEVELOPING LESSONS (LEVEL 4-6)
Levels 4-6 are the “Developing” Skill Phase that encompasses the skating skills required to progress to the “Consolidating” Skill Phase levels 7-8. On completion of this Developing Phase skaters will have a working knowledge of forward and backward stroking, forward and backward crossovers and an understanding of transitioning from forward to backward and backward to forward.
Adult classes will also follow the Skate UK levels 1-6.

- Forward open chasses
- Backward stroking
- Forward outside edges
- Forward inside edges
- Two-foot 3-turn
- Introduction to stationary crossing/lifting of foot on a line
- Introduction to forward crossovers
LEVEL FIVE
- Forward crossovers
- Forward outside 3-turn
- Backward open chasses
- Stepping from backward inside to forward inside edge
- Backward two-foot slalom
- Introduction to backward crossovers
- Introduction to forward drag
LEVEL SIX
- Backward crossovers
- Backward outside edges
- Backward inside edges
- Forward inside 3-turn
- Stepping from backward outside to forward outside edge
- Introduction to forward inside mohawk
- Introduction to bunny hop or two-foot jump
CONSOLIDATING LESSONS (LEVEL 7)
Level 7 “Consolidating” Skill Phase: embeds and reinforces previously taught skills and links them together to increase skating quality, confidence, and consistency.
Adult classes will also follow the Skate UK levels 1-6.

- Forward outside 3-turn with control, equal entry & exit edge plus backward crossover
- Forward outside continuous edges
- Forward inside continuous edges
- Forward inside mohawk with control & equal entry & exit edge
- Bunnyhop & drag combo or two-foot jump & drag combo (hockeyskates)
- Introduction to T-Pot
- Introduction to forward spiral
